The weekend of August 11th and 12th was one of those rare August weekends when the sweltering heat breaks and the temperatures drop down to the 60's at night and the wind comes out to play.

Christian had an invite to the "Rivah" and Lisa had an invite to the beach, so that left Jackson, Nathan and Dad.

We loaded up and went to the marina. A bit of help lent to our neighbor meant we got a late start, but the wind was right for a reach down the Rapp...maybe as far as fishing bay.

I emailed them a scan of some of their ads and got an email back from a guy who was on one of the boats when they were shooting them!!

Finally some new pictures of ANDIAMO under sail!!!

Hudson, our neighbor and sailing buddy got a new camera!!

But first we got a chance to anchor out and do some swimming (and hull and prop cleaning) since the Jellies haven't arrived on the Corrotoman yet.



Nate also got to play "king of the world" a couple of times,




Christian got to work on reversing his baseball "farmers" tan,




Jackson spent most of the day knee deep on the leeward rail



and Lisa just enjoyed the day with the family.

Spring has sprung and we went for our first sail of 2007 April 12th.





Wind was a steady 15 on the rappahanock and gust to 20 were common.

Overnight in Fishing Bay

We had a great sail down to Fishing Bay for an overnight. It was a rare "fall" weekend in August..cool temps, good breeze, great sunsets, moon near full and the stars were shooting overhead.

Early up for a sunrise sail before the wind died out.

The sun looked as if it were steaming up through the bay with large clouds backlit in odd shapes and colors.

A fun 42 miles.

I have no idea what the bands name was...but they were awesome!!!

July 12 we took a client of mine out for his very first sail ever.

Bob found out I had a sailboat and recounted all the times he had read books and dreamt of doing it. I was determined to be the first to get him on a boat.

We had a great 15 knot breeze and had a couple of glorious, near hull speed beam reaches down the river!

I did tell him that it wasn't always this windy or this much fun....now he is more jazzed than ever!!!

First Family Overnighter of the year

Well the boat is back in the water and she floats!

We loaded up late Friday and set sail for Fleets Bay Saturday. Wind and other factors conspired that we didn't make it that far and ended up in Carter Creek.

We did get as far as the White Stone Bridge.


First Draft showed up after experiencing engine problems that were never solved.

After some Grilling and relaxing we spent the night on the hook.



The next day we towed First Draft back to the marina since there was NO wind (it is a GOOD thing we didn't make it to Fleets Bay). Then headed back out for a daysail as the wind had begun to come up.

We pulled Andiamo out of the water to give her a fresh coat of bottom paint.
















The Marina pressure washed her...just a little slime and a few barnacles...















A little scraping , a little sanding,...ok more than just a little!!!

(thanks Dad I owe you big time!!)















Some painting and a new zinc and she is good to go...She will be Green once she gets wet!

Spring is here and it is time to go sailing!

No huge jobs over the winter. Lots of little details attended to, the list never ends, just changes....
