The new Dinghy has arrived. It is an early 70s' Dyer Dhow 12.5.

It was owned and restored by an old high school friend of mine. He did fantastic job , now I just have to keep it up!!

This is some of the
crew.

Her she is from the port quarter.

I am sure I have one of the few all Harken equipped dyer dhows.

and definitely one of the few with an asymmetrical reacher!!!

Should fun teaching the kids to sail on this one as well as cocktail cruises around the harbor.

The weekend of August 11th and 12th was one of those rare August weekends when the sweltering heat breaks and the temperatures drop down to the 60's at night and the wind comes out to play.

Christian had an invite to the "Rivah" and Lisa had an invite to the beach, so that left Jackson, Nathan and Dad.

We loaded up and went to the marina. A bit of help lent to our neighbor meant we got a late start, but the wind was right for a reach down the Rapp...maybe as far as fishing bay.

I'll let the boys finish this story....

This is Jackson . The trip was great and the wind was perfect. In this picture I am in the back.Thats my brother Nathan. He'll tell you more stuff later.

In this picture we are in front of the Rappahannock River Bridge

Some old Alberg ads off Ebay

The caption says: "Students learn the advantage of a safe leeward position as the Alberg 35 drives through the lee of the fast moving Triton". Ardell is still around on the west coast...but I don't think they have a sailing school. I emailed them a scan of some of their ads and got an email back from a guy who was on one of the boats when they were shooting them!!
Another Ardell advert.
Pearson ad from 1964.

Hudson, our neighbor and sailing buddy got a new camera!!

Nate also got to play "king of the world" a couple of times,

Christian got to work on reversing his baseball "farmers" tan,

Jackson spent most of the day knee deep on the leeward rail

and Lisa just enjoyed the day with the family.

The blue boat is Hudsons Vanguard...looking good!!!

Spring has sprung and we went for our first sail of 2007 April 12th.

Wind was a steady 15 on the rappahanock and gust to 20 were common.
